Mr. Jones

There are people who should never be forgotten. Because their courage helped the truth to be seen.  I admire Mr. Gareth Jones' courage deeply! Without him perhaps the world wouldn't even know about the horrible holodomor.

I watched the movie Mr. Jones made by director Agnieszka Holland:

It is a good movie, but it is difficult to watch since the holodomor is one of the most horrible things that have ever happened.

  1. I haven't seen that movie. I must see if I can find it. Thanks for alerting me to this.

  2. Oh wow, I had to look up "holodomor" because I had never heard of it before. (Gee thanks, America.) I am embarrassed not to have known about it! I teach and support 8th grade social studies, which is U.S. history from the Civil War to post-WWII, and all that's touched on is that Stalin killed millions upon millions of people in and outside the war. I will have to watch the movie, Mr. Jones. Thank you for sharing!

    1. dear Mali and Jess, thank you for leaving your comment here. I also haven't heard ANYTHING about holodomor when I was in school (and I live only few hours of driving from Ukraine). I lived in the communist part of Europe and the horrible crimes that the communists did just weren't talked about. And more then 7 millions of people died in Ukraine because of the horrible holodomor.
