Few days ago it was a birthday of Maria's husband, so I sent him an email with birthday wishes. And he sent back a long, beautiful and sad email. It made me sad, reading his email. How horrible must it be, to find the love of your life and then loose her so suddenly?
Anyway, although me & my DH didn't plan to go for summer holidays anywhere, I had a sudden feeling that all that we really have is NOW. So we have to take time for ourselves and do things that we like and go places that we enjoy.
We travelled quite a bit, but our top favourite sea is Dalmatia (in the south of Croatia). I love love swimming in the crystal clear sea there. I love lying on little white stones. I love the smell of Mediterranean. So - in one month time - we are going to the island of Brač . I am attaching a photo of the most beautiful beach there, taken two years ago.
We already stayed there 5 times (in the last 10 years), always in the same apartment. So - since we are regular clients, we immediately got confirmation, without even paying the deposit.
I am so so looking forward to it!!!

DeleteGorgeous!! A few years back, I worked with a girl who was of Croatian descent. She went there with her dad for a few weeks one one summer & they had a wonderful time!

ReplyDeleteSigh - the only time I've swum in the Med (or strictly speaking the Adriatic I guess) was in Croatia last year. It was surprisingly chilly! I mentioned it a bit (with a couple of photos) on my Q entry on my travel blog. We were only there for two days (on a cruise) and I would love to see more of Croatia now.

DeleteAdriatic is quite warm. In July and August the sea has from 23 to 26 C. But if it is after a storm, then it can be chilly for few days.

Ohhhh...AMAZING!!! I've always been curious about Croatia, but haven't really thought about going there, but now it's in my list. :-D
ReplyDeleteI have already seen lots and lots of cars from Sweden, Norway and Finland driving towards Croatia. It always amazes me, how far are people willing to drive for a nice sea.

Oh, I also prefer to fly by plane, esp. 'coz we live farrrr away in the north. If we were to drive to Helsinki non-stop from here, it'd probably take 12 hours at least.
